Communities In Schools of Mid-America (CIS of Mid-America) is an impact-focused, multi-state organization that has been in an extended period of phased expansion on multiple fronts: clients, services, staff, geography, finances, and mission. We are now preparing for our next iteration; in this new period, we will consider our current and future affiliations, our service array and models (such as services in early childhood education, post-secondary, mental health, and other sectors), and our geography.
CIS of Mid-America is currently part of the nation's largest organization dedicated to empowering underserved students to stay in school and on a path to a brighter future. We do whatever it takes to ensure that all kids - regardless of the challenges they might face - have what they need to realize their potential. The CIS of Mid-America network, with its central office in Lawrence, Kansas, provides services to approximately 39,000 students each year in 70 schools in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Iowa by placing Student Support Coordinators directly inside the schools to work with students.
